mother's arms. good evening, everyone. i'm carolyn johnson. >> i'm dan ashley. the mother is scared, but the toddler is okay. it happened in east san jose. thomas roman is there live to explain exactly what happened. thomas? >> dan, we spoke to the child's father who told us he is not going to comment. he will let san jose police deal with this attempted kidnapping. the mother basically had a tug of war with this suspect in order to save her child. san jose police received a call at 5:37. according to police the two-year-old was playing in this front yard here in east san jose. toys belonging to the children in the home are now gathered by the home's front door. the child's mother told police a stranger came up to where her daughter was playing and made a comment about the child. the comment made the mother uncomfortable. as she picked the girl up, the stranger grabbed the girl's legs and tried to pull the child away from her. after a short struggle with the man the mother managed to pull her child away and run into the house where she called police. the suspect ran down pavin drive

. but she never showed up. kron- 4's dan kerman is live in hayward tonight. that's where moreno's family and friends are doing what they can. to help bring her home safely. dan? >> reporter: she remains missing. they have been passing out in these flyers hoping that somebody will recognize her and somebody will know where she is. family and friends spent friday night passing out fliers as they continue the search for the 13 year-old girl. >> i want her to come home. she was last seen thursday morning after dropping her younger school off at an elementary school and he word. sheriff's officials say that she could have voluntarily ran off with her 22 year-old boyfriend. they live in the single apartment building but the mother police the something more sinister has happened. >> it is not a boyfriend. not to a 13 year-old he is a predator. he is rain on my daughter. >> reporter: she said that she was given no indication before she left for school. there was no indication she did not take any extra clothes. she made brownies the night before. there is no indication that she ran away. >> repo

thursday leaving for school in hayward, but she never showed up for class. kron 4's dan kerman reports on how her friends and family are spreading the word about her disppearance. >> the was no indication that she had any plans on leaving or running away. >> family and friends will spread of the word. anybody with information about either of them is encouraged to call the alameda church office. dan kerman, kron 4. the limited--sheriff's office. the alameda sheriff's office is asking for the public's help. >> authorities say they've found the bodies of a missing berkeley woman and her boyfriend. camille kob-er and eric eide went missing at the end of december. their bodies were found yesterday in a rural part of shasta county, near eide's home. the couple went for a walk in the woods, then got disoriented during a storm after dark. shasta sheriff's deputies haven't found any evidence of foul play. we're getting a closer look at some rescue video of a skier. buried by an avalanche at lake tahoe last month. you can see from this helmet cam video, the buried skier was able to put a hand up

4's dan kerman joins us now with more on this. >> reporter: the woman who passed away, was 98 years old and died clara county. in addition to the flu she also suffered from a variety of other illnesses including pneumonia. public health officials say this should serve as a reminder that people should get a flu shot. this is especially important because the flu season has not yet peeked in california. in fact it may not peek until february or early march. >> we are in the middle of flu season it could get worse before it gets better. there are other things that could happen. we must stay hydrated. keep our hands washed anybody over six months of age, the youngest, the oldest, and higher risk individuals. >> pam: how well does this current strains of flu a match with the vaccine that is available? we asked that same question and he says the this is a very good match. you never know what quite match is coming out but this should help knock it out. remember, it takes a couple of weeks for it to get into your system. waiting would be a problem. >> pam: our team coverage continues. even w

dan kerman is here to explain. >> when the economy outwith the economy in the dolldrums three years ago, congress created the payroll tax holiday, which cut the payroll tax from 6.2% to 4.2%.for 2011 and 2012. meaning more money in your paycheck to spend to help get the economy going. well that so called holiday expired at the end of last year. meaning your payroll tax goes back up 2% meaning less take home pay. here's what it means. households making between 40 and 50 thousand dollars will see 579 dollars less this year. those making between 50 and 75 thousand dollars will see about 822 dollars less this year. those making between 75 and 100 thousand dollars will pay 1,206 more in tax, or 100-dollars a month the big question is, will this impact the economy? since consumers have less in their paycheck each week, even if it's 25$ a week, will they spend less? some forecasters say definitely. others say we've paid this rate for years and this 2-percent will have little impact over the long term. especially when you consider that middle class tax rates are not going up. >> pam: now th
